Biography
David's journey into film acting began in the summer of 1998 when a close friend introduced him to famed Harlem theatre director and playwright Ernie McClintock, the same man who coached rapper Tupac Shakur for his 1992 debut role in the critically acclaimed Paramount Pictures film Juice. From that meeting he joined Mr. McClintock's acting workshop with a small group of dedicated, serious actors, immersed himself in scene study, and learned the patented 'Jazz Actor's Technique'.
Newly inspired and determined to blaze his own trail, David left the east coast in 1999, did a 365 day stint in the U.S. Navy, and moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to pursue a professional career in film and television. Since then he has accumulated a bevy of principal and supporting IMDB film credits for independent film, television and internet web series. Between 2011-2012 he was the lead or co-lead in three films, one of which went to the Venice Film Festival. In 2013 he wrote and produced two commercials, and appeared in the Two Roads Theatre production of 30 Actors In 60 Minutes. In the spring of 2014 David moved back to the east coast to the DC/MD/VA area without missing a beat.
He appeared in an episode of House of Cards with speaking lines, and did a web series entitled Power Without Piety. In 2015 he landed a co-starring role in a film about a family of astronauts called Escape Velocity, followed up by a supporting role in the sci fi thriller The Engineer, both written, produced and directed by Maryland native and filmmaker Maritza McMillan. He also took part in a Monologue Madness D.C. monologue competition, after auditioning against 200 other actors to secure a spot among 32 finalists who competed for a money prize.
In 2018 David starred in From Prison to the Stage, a Kennedy Center theatrical presentation of essays, poems and letters written by incarcerated prison inmates. He performed with a small ensemble of theater players and an accompanying r&b singing group with musicians.
